Barnsley Council in bid to protect valuable items in schools

Valuable equipment in all council owned buildings and schools in Barnsley is to be marked with a special forensically coded liquid.

The product, SelectaDNA, is an invisible solution used to mark and identify valuable items and in the event of theft assist police to trace and return the property to their owner.

It will be applied to items including laptops, cameras, scanners and whiteboards.

Barnsley councillor Alan Gardiner said: “We take the protection of our assets very seriously.”
