A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing in Sheffield left the victim fighting for his life in hospital.

Police were called to Lyons Road, off Lyons Street, Pitsmoor just after midnight today (Friday, July 10) following reports of a ‘disturbance’ in the street.

A short time later at 12.27am, officers received a call reporting a 54-year-old man had presented at Northern General Hospital with stab wounds.

He remains in hospital in a ‘critical, but stable’ condition.

Police have arrested a 32 year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident.

It’s the second stabbing in the area in less than a week.

A 21-year-old man remains in a stable condition after a knife attack on Lyons Street at around 5pm on Saturday (July 4).

Detectives said they were treating the incident as a ‘targeted attack’.
