Arsonists set cars on fire on streets

A CAR fire on a Sheffield road was started deliberately. The burning Ford Fiesta was put out by firefighters on Fox Hill Crescent, Birley Carr, at around 3.30am yesterday.

A car was also set on fire on Station Road, Whitwell, Chesterfield, at 2am the same morning. Firefighters from Clowne station used water jets to douse the flames.

Horse needed help

A HORSE needed help from firefighters when it collapsed inside its stable. The animal fell ill at Hady Hill, in Chesterfield, at 12.20pm on Tuesday. Fire crews from Chesterfield and Matlock were called to the scene, and used special lifting equipment to remove the horse, which was taken for veterinary treatment.

Crash with post van

A DAMAGED car came to rest on a grass bank after colliding with a post office van in Sheffield. The vehicles crashed on Prospect Road, Bradway, outside The Old Mother Red Cap pub, at around 4.45pm. Police attended the scene and an ambulance was also called.
