The fire spread quickly and caused ‘substantial’ damage to the property but thankfully everyone escaped the building unharmed.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue told at the time how the incident was one of two blazes that night in which flames from bins that had been set alight spread to a neighbouring property in Rotherham.

Police today appealed for anyone who lives in the area and saw or heard anything suspicious that morning to call 101, quoting incident number 13 of October 31.
