The following day, shots were fired at a property and a car parked on Myrtle Road, Heeley.

South Yorkshire Police said the vehicle search operation formed part of reassurance patrols following the shootings, which are both being treated as targeted attacks.Sergeant Ash Franklin said: “Our team is deployed in the wake of incidents like this to provide a highly visible presence. We stop and search vehicles and people, checking for weapons and other signs of criminal activity.“This weekend we have arrested five people on suspicion of a range of offences, including possession with intent to supply, assault and animal cruelty.”Officers also seized cash and reported a number of people for offences including driving without insurance, driving whilst disqualified and possession of a controlled substance. The team also recovered a stolen vehicle fitted with false number plates.Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Henderson, South Yorkshire Police’s force lead for armed criminality, said: “Our serious violent crime taskforce is continually deployed to key areas across South Yorkshire to help us tackle violent crime. Its actions are extremely disruptive. “They are currently working hard in Sheffield following a number of incidents in different areas and I know they are providing a reassuring presence for local people.“They are carrying out stop checks and making significant arrests, but they’re also speaking to, and more importantly, listening to people. I know that over this weekend they had some important conversations quite literally across the garden fence. This was well-received and is vital for us.“I know for some it can be disconcerting to see officers, but I want you to know they work for you and they are there for you.”
