Two people were arrested on suspicion of drug offences following a series of police raids in Maltby.

Officers searched homes in Morrell Street, Grange Lane and Churchill Avenue.

Dean Heaps, aged 36, of Grange Lane, was charged with possessing cannabis and bailed to appear before Rotherham magistrates.

An 18-year-old man arrested on suspicion of possession drugs with intent to supply was bailed pending further inquiries.

A 55-year-old woman was interviewed under caution on suspicion of possession of mephedrone and a 19-year-old man was reported on summons for possession of cannabis.

A 26-year-old man received a verbal caution for possession of cannabis.

Police have warned of more action.

Inspector Steven Brookes, from the Rotherham South Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Yesterday saw a number of resources deployed to the Maltby area to proactively seek out those committing crime in the area.

“We executed a number of warrants and made some good arrests for drugs offences, demonstrating we will take robust action with those found in possession of illegal substances.

“In addition, we carried out high visibility patrols in hotspot areas for antisocial behaviour and were joined by officers from partner organisations.

“I anticipate that there will be further days of action across the south of Rotherham and indeed, across the whole town, as we commit to stamping out criminality in all its forms.”
