Arrest made after 'man with knife' storms busy Sheffield road

Police swooped on a busy Sheffield city centre street after reports of a ‘man with a knife’.

The incident happened on Eldon Steet, off Devonshire Steet, at around 8:45am this morning (September 10).

Officers arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of possession of a bladed article in public.

A shopkeeper in the area said that they heard a man shouting 'I have a knife!’ before police ‘swiftly’ intervened.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police told the Star that enquiries were ongoing.
