Armed robbers in Halloween masks hunted by police over failed raid in Rotherham

Two raiders wearing Halloween masked burst into a house in Rotherham armed with a knife demanding access to a safe.

The men struck at a house in West Bawtry Road, Canklow, in the early hours of this morning.

South Yorkshire Police said the masked duo threatened the occupants of the house with a knife before fleeing after being denied access to a safe in the property.

A force spokesman said: “An investigation is underway following an attempted robbery in the Canklow area of Rotherham in the early hours of this morning.

“Just after midnight, it is reported that two masked men entered a property in West Bawtry Road, Canklow, and threatened the occupants with what is believed to be a knife.

“The suspects are alleged to have demanded access to a safe found within the property but when this was refused, they fled the scene.

“Neither occupant was injured during the incident.”

The culprits were both slender, wore dark clothing and Halloween masks.
