Eleven police cars were spotted on Derby Street in Heeley this morning, Thursday, May 28, according to one resident.

The street is close to Myrtle Road, where police were called on Monday, May 25, to reports of shots being fired at a house and a parked car.

It is also not far from Farish Place, where earlier this month bullet holes were found in a parked car and a road sign after multiple gunshots were heard.

South Yorkshire Police said that officers were on Derby Street today carrying out a ‘pre-planned warrant’.

The force has not yet given any further details about the warrant or confirmed whether this has any connection to the recent shootings.

It says it expects to be able to release more information later today.
