POLICE were called to a house in Parson Cross, Sheffield, after a report that a gun may have been fired during a disturbance there.

Officers cordoned off the house and had armed police on the road while they investigated the allegation, made at around 8pm on Monday.

Steven Mouzer, of the Ecclesfield Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “Police officers attended a report of a disturbance in the Wordsworth Avenue/Donovan Road area. “Initial information, from one person, suggested that a firearm had been seen and possibly discharged at this location.

“Enquiries show a firearm has not been involved in this incident.”

Two arrests were made in connection with the incident, with the suspects arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage.

Police enquiries are continuing.
