ARBOURTHORNE SHOOTING: Second man charged with attempted murder

A second man has been charged following a shooting in the Arbourthorne area which left a 12-year-old boy seriously injured.

At around 3.45pm on Sunday, January 12, the emergency services were called to Northern Avenue where the boy was found with a gunshot wound to his leg.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The youngster has since been discharged from hospital but is still undergoing medical treatment.

Devon Gregory, 23, of Heeley Green was arrested on Wednesday (January 22), and charged yesterday evening (January 25) with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

A 22-year-old man was also arrested on Wednesday and has since been released on police bail.

A total of six people, five men and one woman, have now been arrested in connection with the incident so far.

Stephen Dunford, 25, of Fellbrigg Road, remains on remand charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Gregory has also been remanded and is due to appear before magistrates’ tomorrow (Monday, January 27).

Officers continue to appeal for information as they investigate the shooting.
