Arbourthorne shooting: Police arrest two more men after innocent 12-year-old boy shot in Sheffield

South Yorkshire Police have arrested two men following a shooting in a Sheffield estate earlier this month, bringing the total number to six.

The men, aged 22 and 23, from Sheffield have both been arrested on suspicion on attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

They both remain in custody.

On January 12 at around 3.45pm, emergency services were called to Northern Avenue, where a 12-year-old boy was found with a gunshot wound to his leg.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He has since been discharged but is still undergoing medical treatment.

A 42-year-old Sheffield woman, arrested on 20 January, has since been released on bail.

Two Sheffield men, both aged 30, arrested last week have been released on bail.

Stephen Dunford, 25, of Fellbrigg Road, remains on remand charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

The police urged those with information to call 101 quoting incident number 516 of 12 January 2020.

Alternatively, they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or submit information via their website or the Major Incident Public Portal .

On Wednesday night (January 22), residents, police officers and politicians attended a public meeting on the Arbourthorne estate to discuss the shooting, other crime and violence and what is being done about it.

The shooting was one of three in Sheffield in less than 48 hours.
