A CANDIDATE in the race to become Derbyshire’s first Police and Crime Commissioner has praised the Police Authority for creating 12 apprenticeships with Derbyshire Police.

Labour candidate Alan Charles, a member of the Police Authority, said it was a ‘vote of confidence in Derbyshire’s future’.

He said: “It is hoped some of these youngsters will have a chance to secure permanent positions with the force.”
