Appeal to trace owner of metal castings recovered from stolen vehicle in Sheffield

Police are trying to trace the owner, or owners, of a quantity of metal that was recovered from a stolen vehicle earlier this week.

At 3:20am on Monday, December 2, a Mitsubushi pickup was abandoned on Maple Road, Tankersley, after being sighted by an officer.

The vehicle was travelling along the A616 from Stocksbridge before being left. The metal castings were later found in the rear of the pickup.

It had been reported stolen from an industrial compound in the Killamarsh area of Derbyshire on December 1 and officers believe it was taken to move the load in question.

All of the castings have serial numbers. Some are believed to have been manufactured in Italy and others have stickers on them.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who believes the metalwork is theirs and can provide proof of ownership.
