Another boy quizzed over arson attack at Ski Village

A second teenage boy has been arrested by police over an arson attack at Sheffield’s disused Ski Village.

The 15-year-old was quizzed yesterday morning over the blaze at the alpine ski complex in Parkwood Springs on Wednesday night.

Another 15-year-old boy arrested earlier in the week has been released on bail.

The Ski Village has been plagued by arson attacks, thefts and vandalism since fire ripped through the site, destroying most of the facilities, a year ago.

The initial fire was logged as accidental.

The artificial ski slope on Vale Road was built at a cost of £2.5 million in 1988 and, in its heyday, attracted 180,000 visitors a year.

Its owner says he is unlikely ever to re-open the facility because of problems getting insurance.
