Sheffield Crown Court heard on October 22 how Garry Milner, aged 35, of Cobcar Lane, Elsecar, Barnsley, admitted three offences committed between October and November, 2019.

Milner pleaded guilty to attempting to engage a child in a sexual activity and attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act by looking at others engaging in a sexual act.

The court heard that the case had involved the use of undercover police officers and it had not involved a real child, which reduces the culpability on the part of the defendant.

Judge Roger Thomas QC adjourned Milner’s case until November 4 to fully consider a probation report and the terms of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order before sentencing takes place.

He told Milner: “You might well be getting sent down and it remains to be seen.”

Judge Thomas also told Milner that because of his pleas he will automatically be made subject to the Sex Offenders Register.

He said: “Because of your pleas today you have to register on the Sex Offenders Register and the actual registration happens as of today.”

Milner was released on conditional bail on the grounds he does not have unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 16.
