THE lowest crime figures since 1981 have been recorded by police in Nottinghamshire.

New statistics for the last financial year show crime in the county fell by 14.2 per cent - down 13,990 offences to 84,329.

Assistant Chief Constable Paul Broadbent said: “These results show almost 14,000 fewer people have been victims of crime.”

He admitted £40m of savings over the next four years would create significant challenges ahead.

Said ACC Broadbent: “We are determined to protect frontline services to continue to keep the public safe.”
