Levi Solomon, aged 51 of Skelton Grove, Woodhouse, who had a stun gun on him, punched the woman after he took her back to his flat and locked the door, refusing to let her leave while threatening her with more violence.

But after a number of hours trapped in the flat, Solomon fell asleep and his victim was able to flee and phone police.

Sheffield Crown Court heard Solomon showed up at his former partner’s home in Sheffield on the morning of November 26, 2015.

Fearful for her life, the woman agreed and he drove her to his home. Solomon appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to kidnap and possession of a firearm.

Det Con Christopher Blincow said: “This woman has been exceptionally brave in coming forward to tell of her awful ordeal at Solomon’s hands.

“Domestic abuse in any form is despicable and we will not tolerate any individual seeking to harm, intimidate or control another person.

“I hope this result offers some comfort to Solomon’s victim, who can hopefully now begin to put this nasty incident behind her.”

Solomon has been remanded into custody and will be sentenced on Monday 11 July at Sheffield Crown Court.
