DOCTORS are today fighting to save the life of a one-year-old girl badly injured in a fatal collision in South Yorkshire.
An 18-year-old passenger in the same car - Luke Hardwick, from Benton Terrace, Swinton, Rotherham - was killed, and the tot, from Wath-upon-Dearne, suffered a life-threatening head injury and is being treated in Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
The 31-year-old male driver of the car, which was knocked off the road by a lorry, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Police said their BMW 316 Compact tried to make a U-turn on the A638 Great North Road at Redhouse, near Adwick-le-Street, Doncaster, on Thursday afternoon.
A 22-year-old woman from Wath, another passenger in the BMW, suffered a broken hand and a minor facial injury.
