Pervy sex pest who badgered teenage girl for naked images caught with photo of woman with “multiple” animals

“Viewing such images encourages such abuse”

A pervy sex pest who badgered a teenage girl for naked images of herself was caught with a photo of a woman engaged in a sex act with “multiple” animals, a court heard.

John Braitch, aged 45, had the gross image seized by police when the teenage girl he was pestering confided in someone and officers began investigating.

Ian West, prosecuting, told Sheffield Crown Court that Braitch sent the young girl pictures of his privates on Facebook, asking her for pictures of her own genitalia.

Rebecca Tanner, defending, said Braitch had accepted he had caused “enormous harm” and made admissions to police upon his arrest.

Judge Anthony Dunne told Braitch this was a case where the appropriate punishment could “only be achieved by immediate custody”.

He added: “This was not a single incident, it was repeated behaviour.”

Speaking about the extreme image, he said: “It showed a woman being sexually exploited in the most degrading way possible.

“Viewing such images encourages such abuse - a vulnerable woman was exploited and you indirectly encouraged that exploitation.”

Braitch, of East Dene, Rotherham, admitted possessing an extreme pornographic image, sending an image of genitalia and another charge of sexual assault in respect of a teenager.

The judge noted Braitch’s remorse was genuine and there was no reason to believe he would not comply with a community order.

However he concluded: “This is one of those cases where appropriate punishment can only be achieved by immediate custody.”

Braitch was jailed for 21 months and handed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.

He had one previous conviction for a dissimilar matter which the court disregarded due to its age.
