Two other men were also injured in the shooting.

In March 2026, Faiser Hussain was arrested at Manchester Airport on suspicion of murdering Ibrahim, known as “Ibby,” almost 20 years after the fatal shooting.

Hussain, of no fixed abode but formerly of Stockton-on-Tees, Cleveland, was subsequently charged with Ibby’s murder, along with two counts of attempted murder, alleged to have been carried out on the same date as Ibrahim’s death.

During a Sheffield Crown Court hearing on Thursday (July 30, 2026), Hussain, now aged 44, pleaded not guilty to Ibby’s murder.

He also entered not guilty pleas to two counts of attempted murder.

Hussain is now due to stand trial at the same court in October this year, and was remanded into custody at the conclusion of his plea hearing.

Speaking in the days following Ibrahim’s death, his mum, Khadijah Ilyas, said their family had been “left devastated by the events.”

A tribute paid to Ibrahim at the time read: “His smile was bright, it made the sun shine.

“His eyes were as beautiful as an emerald.

“He told his jokes, made everyone laugh.

“He was quiet, never harmed a fly. That’s why we are all going to miss him.”

In another tribute, Ibrahim was described as a " very likeable lad."

A sea of floral tributes were left at the scene of the shooting.
