LEGAL eagles across South Yorkshire are gearing up for the January Jilt – the day when couples are most likely to split up after the Christmas holidays.

Separations are at their highest on January 7, statistics show – with the average marriage now lasting less than 11 years.

Dovetail Divorce Solutions’s Clare Walters said: “Couples have spent two weeks at home with their extended families and they’ve also had the financial pressure of Christmas. They often decide enough is enough.”
