Couple face court action in council building row

Have your say

A COUPLE in Rotherham have three months to demolish a building or council officers say they will take them to court.

Rotherham Council has threatened Brett and Margaret Ainsworth, of Thurcroft, with legal action over a large storage building which sits on green belt land on Morthern Road.

Its planning board has refused an application for the pair to retain the building to use it for agricultural and dog activities.

The council previously served the pair with an enforcement notice in 2010 over the Morthen Road building.

Planners say it is ‘inappropriate’ and too large for the site.

The council says the couple could be prosecuted if the pair do not comply.
