Parking outside the schools in South Yorkshire causes me great concern.
The thing that should worry people is the attitude of certain council officers within Neighbourhood Teams who are supposed to look after certain areas.
The response I got from them was “you’ve already reported problem parking in one place – we can’t be in two places at once” – this is the kind of ignorant response which discourages people from engaging with local democracy about bread and butter issues.
Caroline Flint MP and Coun Elsie Butler have been campaigning on this quite recently in Edlington so the politicians are doing their bit, but the council are dragging their feet.

I have read the reports about parents parking cars outside schools.
I live near Brightside School and Jenkin Road is often blocked with cars which are parked on double yellow lines.
Why don’t the police or wardens issue parking tickets? I’m sure a hefty fine would make them think twice. There is no excuse because there are side streets quite near for parking. Or why not set off earlier and walk the kids to school? The excercise would do them good.
