A SENIOR Sheffield Council officer has been appointed honorary secretary of a national social services organisation.

Richard Webb, the council’s executive director of communities, is joining the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services next month.

Mr Webb, aged 40, joined Sheffield Council in 2009 and has responsibility for adult social care, community assemblies, community cohesion and library services.

He said: “Adult social care should stand up for the people it serves, for its enduring values and for its many successes, as well as being clear about the need to improve, reform and make changes.”
