Council argument holds no credibility

Have your say

In Monday night’s Star it was reported that Councillor Jack Scott blames the Government cutbacks for the huge rise in allotment fees. This is the same tired easy option that the trainee MPs in our town hall trot out to justify every library closure, and cutback that this city has suffer.

However it was also reported that the council has failed to collect more than £11 million in council tax. Perhaps, if our councillors concentrated on what they are supposed to do rather than play politics with our services they may gain a little credibility.

I have no affinity towards this government or any politician. I hold them all in equal contempt, but surely anyone with any common sense can see that until the taxes owed to this city are collected then the council’s argument against central government cuts holds no credibility whatsoever.
