Could Sheffield Wednesday be one step closer to signing Danny Batth? Wolves manager Nuno has his say

Sheffield Wednesday have been linked with a loan move for Wolverhampton Wanderers' Danny Batth and now they look closer than ever to a deal for the defender.

Batth was left out of Wolves' Carabao Cup squad that played against Wednesday at Hillsborough on Tuesday night and is yet to make a Premier League appearance for the club this season.

Nuno Espirito Santo's decision to prioritise new signings and youth players in his squad selection for the win over the Owls has only fuelled speculation Batth could be headed elsewhere.

And speaking after the match, Nuno was coy about the 27-year-old's future when explaining his omission from the squad.

He told Birmingham Live: 'That's a decision. Danny is the captain of the club. I already spoke with him. He didn't come today.

'Options, we have to make decisions. Sometimes they are not so happy to take, but we have to make decisions.'

The Portuguese manager also added that players could leave the club, although he insisted that every player still at Molineux is part of his plans.
