Coronary care in Rotherham celebrated

The event celebrated the work of Rotherham’s Heart Failure and Cardiac Rehabilitation services, run by the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust,

Katie Taylor, a specialist cardiac rehabilitation nurse, said: “Since the service was founded in 2006 more than 8,500 patients have been treated by our cardiac rehabilitation and heart failure service, with 90 people being referred to the team every month.

“Many of our patients, who have received treatment over the past 10 years, continue to live a rewarding and enjoyable life – this is testimony to the specialist nursing care and support we provide.”

Rotherham has an above average incidence of coronary heart disease with one in every 25 people living with the condition.

Rotherham’s Heart Failure and Cardiac Rehabilitation team has contributed to reducing mortality rates over the past 10 years.

Colin Gill who suffered a heart attack last October, said: “The care I have received has been excellent – the fact I’m standing here today is proof of it.”
