The match takes place at the Keepmoat Stadium Athletics pitch in aid of Doncaster Cancer charity “The Eve Merton Dreams Trust”.

On signing for the Legends team James said, “Everybody knows how much I love this club and in the 12 years I’ve been here the people of Doncaster have been really good to me. When I was offered the chance to take part in something that gave back to Doncaster people suffering with cancer, I jumped at the opportunity to help”.

On the day' Copps' will line up alongside English football greats Paul Merson and Darren Anderton as well as other Doncaster Rovers legends (yet to be confirmed) .

Event organiser and charity co. founder Martin Lawrence said, “We’re delighted to have 'Copps' involved as there’s no doubt he’s a true Rovers legend. speaking to him it was obvious how eager he was to be a part of the event and give something back to Doncaster people”.

This season saw Coppinger surpass Colin Douglas' previous record for total number of appearances for the club and truly cements his name into the Rovers history books.

His inclusion is a real attempt by the charity to involve the Rovers fans in what they are trying to do. The charity of course is run by Doncaster people to benefit Doncaster people suffering with cancer and all monies raised stay within the town,

Martin said, “It’s been a difficult season for our club and most importantly the fans but were keen to try and give them a day to enjoy during the summer”.

As the nation is gripped by the summers Euro 2016 tournament, the Legends match will give football fans and their families the chance to get involved and enjoy some live football and a fun day out.

Coppinger and the former England internationals will take on a team of local charity fundraisers, mostly made up of school teachers from the Doncaster area and representatives of local based businesses.

The day will also include activities for all the family including rides, inflatables, superhero characters and much more. Tickets are available via the club ticket office 01302 762576 or on the day, £5 Adult, £3 Child and £10 Family (2 Adult & 2 Child).
