FIRE crews dealt with an oven which went up in flames at a curry house.
Fire broke out at Eastern Eye in Firth Park Road at 1.25pm on Tuesday.
Firefighters from Elm Lane and Darnall stations wore breathing apparatus to go into the smoke-filled kitchen and used a hose reel to put out the flames.
They used a thermal imaging camera to check the building for hotspots to ensure the blaze didn’t reignite and also checked the flat upstairs.
“The fire was out in around 10 minutes but we spent 40 minutes at the scene checking the gas and electricity and carrying out further safety checks. Nobody was injured,” said a brigade spokeswoman.
