Conman stole cash and jewellery from Rotherham pensioner

A crook who tricked his way into a pensioner's house stole cash and jewellery.

He struck at a house in New Winterwell, Wath, at around 4pm on Wednesday, December 13 after telling he 70-year-old man who lives there that he was lost and asking to use his phone.

The OAP allowed him into his house and left the thief alone as he went to look for his phonebook.

During this time the house was searched and the crook was found in his victim's bedroom.

When he was challenged he fled with cash and jewellery of sentimental value.

The offender was white, around 5ft 8ins tall, slim and had dark brown hair.

He was clean shaven, spoke with a local accent and was wearing a black coat, dark bottoms and dark gloves.

Witnesses or anyone who saw anything suspicious should call South Yorkshire Police on 101.
