Raiders smashed their way in through the front entrance of Rossington Hall Riding for the Disabled overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday and took nine saddles, nine leather bridles, four Motorola walkie talkies, a safe containing £800 and a mobile phone - all worth around £4,000.
Since then, the local community has rallied round to support the members and raise the funds needed to replace the items so the charity - which provides horse riding lessons for the disabled – can open again as soon as possible.
A statement on their Facebook page said: “To say the response to our predicament has been absolutely amazing would be an understatement.
“A 74-year-old blind man heard our story and sent £1000, an old lady sent £50, Sykehouse Fisheries are organising an angling match, Thorne Rural Lions are all offering help, other RDA groups are offering tack.
“There are just too many people and organisations to mention, but each one will be thanked individually when we get turned around. “
