They will be offered a range of support which will include befriending, relationship building and goal setting.

It is hoped the support will help residents to develop their confidence and encourage them to participate in wider community activities at Foxhill Forum.

Chief executive Mark Wilde said: "Thanks to National Lottery players and the support of the Big Lottery Fund, I am delighted we have secured funding over four years to develop and deliver a personalised community befriending service.

"The impact of such a new service will be huge on the lives of so many including those who previously, for whatever reason, have not been as involved or have not been reached or supported previously.

Mr Wilde said the organisation will shortly appoint a community connector and relationship builder to the team, who will become a key point of contact for the project.

Other residents will benefit from wider opportunities offered through the project, which will be delivered by a team of local volunteers.

Residents will also be recruited and trained to become befrienders to support others.
