Commitment to kids recognition for Linda

A Sheffield volunteer has scooped a national award for her dedication in helping young people prepare for the world of work.

Linda Hoyland, head of service proposition at Santander and an advisory board member at Longley Park Sixth Form, won the Career Ready Award for her passion and commitment to improving the employment prospects of students. Career Ready is a national charity that aims to help young people become work ready through a programme of mentoring, masterclasses, internships and workplace visits.

Linda said: “I’m really grateful to Santander and to Career Ready for giving me the opportunity to make a real difference to young people’s lives. When I was first asked to get involved with Career Ready I was a little reluctant because I thought ‘I’m getting on a bit, I don’t know any teenagers and I don’t have children,’ but it’s a really inspiring programme and it’s truly rewarding to be a part of it.”

Julie Smith, Career Ready regional manager in Yorkshire, said: “We are delighted to present Linda with this award and to thank her for her outstanding contribution.”
