College panels save energy

SOLAR panels have been installed on college sites to save energy, power the buildings and bring in income.

Barnsley College said the panels would reduce CO2 emissions by the equivalent of 102 return flights from London to Madrid each year.

Corina Billing, a building surveyor at the college, said: “The panels will make a big difference to our carbon emissions and in the long term are a much more cost-effective and sustainable way to power our buildings.”

The panels on the Construction site, on Old Mill Lane, and Honeywell Sports site will also generate income.
