Coffee scheme for homeless

Have your say

An INTERNET campaign to help homeless people get a hot drink when they need it most is spreading across Sheffield.

Suspended Coffee Sheffield is part of a movement spreading across the globe via social media.

The idea is you can buy a hot drink in a café or coffee shop and ‘suspend’ it, meaning it is in reserve for someone in need.

A homeless person can then ask for the coffee.

Richard Hennessy, set up the Sheffield Suspended Coffee Facebook page to promote the idea, after seeing it online.

He said: “As a former barista, I have a love of coffee and thought it was a great scheme.”

Among the businesses offering to support the campaign is The Honeypie Tearoom, Heeley.

Mr Hennessy is also in discussions with Fancie, which has shops across Sheffield, and Tamper in the city centre.
