Clifton Park celebrates '¨70 years of lion Nelson

Clifton Park Museum is celebrating the 70th birthday of its favourite resident, Nelson the Lion, with a family fun day.

Children aged three to 12 are invited to take part in a number of science activities as well as making Nelson puppets, masks and badges, as part of the celebrations.

The fun day, on Tuesday, May 31, will also feature a safari trail around the museum and painting session with local artist Pete Baldry as he creates a large-scale model of the birthday boy.

Local schoolchildren have been asked to design a card for Nelson and the winner will be unveiled at the event, which runs from 11am to 3pm.

The winner’s card will then go on sale in the museum shop in the summer.

The event costs £2.50 per child.
