Clegg’s long odds for win

Have your say

BOOKIES have increased the odds on Nick Clegg’s Liberal Democrats winning the next General Election after an appalling performance in the Barnsley Central by-election, where they came sixth.

William Hill have put the Lib Dems on 100/1 to win next time around and are offering 2/7 odds that they will not even match the 23 per cent vote share they got in 2010.

William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe said: “The disastrous result for the Lib Dems suggests they have plenty of work to do. At one point during the last General Election campaign they were single-figure odds for an outright win – they are now at 100/1.”
