Clegg hosts manufacturing event

DEPUTY Prime Minister Nick Clegg hosted a reception at 10 Downing Street for Sheffield-based manufacturing companies.

Representatives from the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre between Sheffield and Rotherham were invited along with companies based there including Rolls Royce, Boeing UK, Jaguar Land Rover and BAE Systems.

Guests included apprentices, the chief executive of the UK Technology Strategy Board, Iain Gray, Vice Chancellor of Sheffield University Professor Keith Burnett and Master Cutler Pam Liversidge.

Mr Clegg said: “Manufacturing can and should be the jewel in Britain’s crown.”
