'˜Clean for the Queen' in Rotherham

Rotherham Council has throw its support behind a national clean-up campaign, hosting a series of borough-wide community events.

The national ‘Clean for the Queen’ campaign has been organised by Keep Britain Tidy, ahead of the Queen’s birthday weekend on June 11-12.

The Council’s Streetpride team has been identifying areas of the town centre in need of a tidy-up, before the weekend’s celebrations, and teaming up with local businesses to spruce up the area.

Advisory Cabinet Member for Waste, Roads and Community Safety, Coun Kath Sims, said: “We have already organised a number of community events, but whether you’d like to clean for the queen or just for your local community we’d love even more local people to get involved.

“The Council is always happy to support community clean ups and we can help by providing litter picking equipment and refuse sacks.

“If you’d like to get involved, just visit www.rotherham.gov.uk and fill in our online form and we’ll supply you with any equipment you might need.”
