TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson has claimed someone could have been killed in a riot which saw him and his Top Gear crew thrown out of Argentina.
The Doncaster-born host was forced to flee filming after locals claimed a number plate – H982FKL – on a vehicle was a jibe over the 1982 Falklands War.
Clarkson was forced out after angry mobs attacked their vehicles with pickaxe handles and rocks.
He tweeted: “They threw us out for the political capital. Thousands chased crew to border. Someone could have been killed. This was not a jolly jape that went awry. For once, we did nothing wrong.
“The number plate WAS a coincidence. When it was pointed out to us, we changed it.”
