MALAYSIAN students and ex-pats from all over the country are heading to Sheffield to take part in the annual Malaysian Games this Saturday.

The event is to be held at the Concord Sports Centre in Shiregreen, running from 8am until 6pm.

The visitors to the city will take part in a variety of sports and activities, including table tennis, volleyball, badminton and chess.

The event is being organised by the Sheffield Malaysian Students’ Association.

Hundreds of spectators and players will also be treated to a banquet of traditional Malaysian cuisine at the event, which promotes Britain’s Malaysian residents and their integration into their local communities.

Launched in 1992, the Sheffield Malaysian Games has been held at Concord Sports Centre for the last six years.
