Two Sheffield bus drivers have been celebrated as ‘kind and helpful’ and ‘polite and enthusiastic’ - at the Stagecoach 2015 Customer Service Stars Awards.

Kim Horn, a driver from the Ecclesfield depot, scooped the grand prize at the event, taking home the ‘Customer Service Star’ after customers described her as ‘kind and helpful, a courteous and careful driver who always has time for people and a cheery hello for everyone.’

She shares the award with her colleague, Alex Armstrong, who was praised for being ‘polite and enthusiastic, very good with passengers and always friendly.’

Stagecoach called on its customers to nominate their favourite employee earlier this year for the annual awards, which recognises the customer service skills of Stagecoach bus drivers all around the country.

The competition also saw drivers from the Chesterfield, Barnsley and Rawmarsh depots win a ‘Customer Service Star,’ as voted for by a number of their own customers.

At the Chesterfield depot, winner Colin Bradley-Howarth was described as ‘always smart, clean and friendly,’ while another customer commented ‘nothing is too much trouble for him and it is a pleasure to travel on his bus.’

Thomas Cordingley, from the Barnsley depot, was recognised for ‘always being presentable and lovely to talk to, very patient, smiley, happy, cheery and a careful driver.’

Customer feedback for Paul Billam, at the Rawmarsh depot, included his ‘great personality,’ as well as the fact he is ‘very well-mannered and helpful, a brill driver who is simply the best.’

Paul Lynch, Stagecoach Yorkshire managing director, said: “We would like to congratulate all our drivers who won an award and thank all of our customers who took the time to vote.

“Our drivers are – quite literally – the face of our company and so to hear such high praise from our satisfied customers is fantastic.

“We’re pleased with and very proud of each of these first-class drivers.”

A survey conducted by Stagecoach earlier this year found more than 90 per cent of its customers were either satisfied or very satisfied with driver attitude, appearance and standard of driving.
