SHEFFIELD could benefit from a share of a £15 million fund to help rural businesses around the country.

The city region’s Local Enterprise Partnership, representing councils and businesses in South Yorkshire and parts of north Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire is being invited to bid for some of the cash from the Government.

Funding is available for projects which address ‘barriers to economic growth’ in rural areas, such as a lack of suitable premises, and poor provision of infrastructure, such as superfast broadband and mobile networks.

Ministers say money will be made available to the six best bidders.
