City Girlguides team up with Tesco for new '˜Eat Happy' badge

Girlguides in Sheffield are set to learn more about the journey their food takes to reach their plates, teaming up on a new project with Tesco.

The national Tesco Eat Happy Project aims to offer Girlguides across the UK a unique insight into food production, sustainability and healthy eating.

Over 35,000 Rainbows and Brownies across the region will visit local Tesco stores to embark on a host of behind the scenes activities - from identifying different types of fish to sampling a range of unusual fruit - to earn their special Eat Happy badge.

Girlguiding Chief Guide, Gill Slocombe, said: “We’re really excited to be embarking on the Eat Happy project with Tesco. We encourage all girls in guiding to be curious about the world around them and these hands on activities will empower girls to explore the food journey and healthy eating in a fun and engaging way.”

Corporate responsibility director at Tesco, Josh Hardie, said: “Since its inception in 2014, The Tesco Eat Happy Project has reached over 1 million children across the UK, teaching them about the origins of the food they eat every day.”
