Citizens’ advice service is axed

Have your say

FUNDING cuts have led to outreach citizens’ advice bureau services in South Yorkshire villages being axed.

The weekly sessions were provided by Barnsley CAB at the Romero Centre, Athersley, Wombwell Library and Thurnscoe Health Centre.

Current funding from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust has now come to an end and there is no alternative source available.

Barnsley CAB said that, over the last financial year alone, the service has helped more than 800 people to deal with problems.

Bosses stress their services are still available online or by telephone to anyone in the borough.
