A CHURCH is finally receiving the care it needs - after work started on a £45,000 project.
Staveley Methodist Church, on Chesterfield Road, regularly suffers from a leaky roof, which has forced members to have a mop and bucket on hand at all times.
The project will see the old felt roof re-felted and the water-damaged suspended ceiling replaced.
Church Council member, Norman Buck, said: “This project is going to make such a difference, I can’t wait to see it complete.
“It will enable us to put away our mop and bucket, and hire out the hall confidently even in the worst of weather.”
The project has been funded through charity events held by the community and grants from the All Churches Trust, Viridor Credits and The Veolia Environmental Trust.
