Church hits its landmark

TALBOT Lane Methodist Church in Moorgate, Rotherham, is celebrating 250 years of worship on one site.

An original octagonal church, inspired by John Wesley who preached on the site, soon became too small and a larger church was built to accommodate more than 1,000 people. That burnt down in 1901, and the present building was built and opened in 1903.

On Saturday, July 30 at 3pm there will be an organ recital on the original organ, by David Oldfield.

Sunday, July 31 will start with a service at 11.15am and a drama at 2pm, followed by a Songs of Praise.
