I WISH to respond to the Colin Drury’s piece about ‘Chuggers’ on Fargate. It’s exactly the same on the Moor. These so-called caring folk harass passers-by, to the point of stopping potential customers approaching market stalls.
I’ve even seen people approached while attempting to buy good. I have been stopped on numerous occasions and have no objection to anyone being asked, politely, to help charities but strongly disagree with the way the public is stopped. I’ve been tapped on the shoulder while on my mobile phone and basically told them to get lost.
Some places don’t allow the public to be approached by anyone with collection boxes. I wish Sheffield would adopt same attitude.
