Christmas campaign for Rotherham hospice proves a success

Over 1,400 people have been remembered in Rotherham Hospice’s ‘Light up a Life’ campaign.

The annual campaign, which raises around £30,000 a year, involves people donating to have a Christmas light at Rotherham Hospice dedicated to a loved one.

Names are added to special book of remembrance.

The Christmas lights were switched on on Saturday, December 5 and the following day there was a service of remembrance at Rotherham Minster.

Both services featured readings by trustees, staff, volunteers and members of the children’s bereavement group, Sunbeams, as well as Christmas carols.

Hospice Chairman, Lynda Shelton, said “Light up a Life is the most poignant event in the Hospice calendar.”
